بغداد اليوم - خاص أكد السفير اللبناني الأسبق لدى كندا، مسعود معلوف، اليوم الخميس ( 23 تموز 2026 )، أن "إعلان الرئيس دونالد ترامب، بالتنسيق مع رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو، هذه الحرب في 28 شباط من العام الجاري، وتمكن العمليات العسكرية من تدمير عدد كبير من المنشآت النووية والعسكرية الإيرانية، جعل طهران غير قادرة على الرد عسكريًا بالمستوى ذاته، فاتجهت إلى استخدام ورقة أكثر تأثيرًا، وهي الحرب الاقتصادية، عبر إغلاق مضيق هرمز". وأضاف، في حديثه لـ"بغداد اليوم"، أن "هذا التطور وضع الرئيس ترامب أمام مأزق مزدوج، مأزق يتعلق بمسار الحرب نفسها، وآخر داخلي يتعلق بالوضع السياسي الأمريكي". مبينًا أنه "قبل بدء العمليات العسكرية الأمريكية - الإسرائيلية ضد إيران، كان مضيق هرمز مفتوحًا أمام حركة الملاحة العالمية، وتعبره ناقلات النفط والسفن التجارية بحرية كاملة، من دون عوائق أو رسوم أو قيود، أما اليوم فقد أصبح المضيق تحت السيطرة الإيرانية ومغلقًا، فيما تبدو طهران غير مستعدة للتنازل عن هذه الورقة الاستراتيجية". وأشار إلى أن "ترامب يحاول البحث عن مخرج من هذا المأزق، لكنه لا يستطيع سحب القوات والأساطيل الأمريكية من المنطقة والعودة إلى الداخل الأمريكي بينما يبقى مضيق هرمز مغلقًا"، لأن "ذلك سيُفسَّر على أنه هزيمة سياسية وعسكرية كبيرة". وأوضح معلوف أن "ترامب يسعى إلى ممارسة أقصى درجات الضغط على إيران"، فقد حاول أولًا عبر المفاوضات، إلا أنها "تعثرت"، وهو الآن يستخدم مختلف أدوات الضغط السياسية والاقتصادية والدبلوماسية، على أمل أن "ترضخ طهران وتعود إلى طاولة التفاوض، بما يسمح بالحصول على تنازلات، ولو محدودة، تفضي إلى اتفاق جديد يكون أفضل، ولو بصورة نسبية، من الاتفاق النووي الذي أبرمه الرئيس باراك أوباما عام 2015، والذي انسحب منه ترامب عام 2018"، واصفًا إياه بأنه "من أسوأ الاتفاقيات التي وقعتها الولايات المتحدة". وبين أنه "في المقابل، يواجه ترامب تحديًا داخليًا لا يقل خطورة"، فهناك، بحسب هذا الطرح، تزايد في أعداد الأمريكيين الرافضين لسياسة إدخال الولايات المتحدة في حرب، انعكست على الداخل ا
